Press Release: February 14, 2026 Officer Involved Shooting Update #1

On the evening of February 14, 2026, Fremont Police Detectives were actively assisting local Bay Area law enforcement agencies in the apprehension of suspects responsible for automobile and residential burglaries. These same suspects were involved in similar crimes in Fremont in 2025. After committing multiple burglaries in other cities on February 14, 2026, the suspects returned to Fremont. When detectives attempted to arrest the suspects, a vehicle pursuit was initiated. The suspect vehicle was ultimately disabled, and four suspects fled on foot. At approximately 9:45 p.m., an officer-involved shooting occurred in the area of Blacow Road and Mattos Court (near the area of Alta Drive and Racine Avenue, as previously reported).

At this time, the one suspect who was shot remains hospitalized and will require further care. The involved officer was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and was later released. The three other suspects were arrested for burglaries that occurred in other jurisdictions.

This is an active investigation, and we plan to share more details when they become available. No suspects are believed to be outstanding, and we do not believe there is any ongoing public safety threat.
