On February 15, 2026, at approximately 3:00 P.M., SVPD officers responded to the 200 block of W. Los Angeles Avenue regarding a robbery investigation.
The investigation determined that two suspects approached the reporting party on Easy Street and struck him in the back with a blunt object launched from a slingshot. The suspects then brandished a baseball bat and a knife, forcibly taking the victim’s bicycle and backpack before fleeing the area.
Based on the suspects’ descriptions, responding SVPD units located both individuals near the railroad tracks. The victim positively identified the suspects and his stolen property. The slingshot used in the assault was also recovered.
The suspects were identified as 39-year-old Humberto Alverez-Martinez and 35-year-old Carlos Velasquez, both are homeless in Simi Valley. They were arrested and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail on charges of Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Robbery.
