Simi Valley Police officers were on patrol in the area of First Street and Los Angeles Avenue when they observed a subject riding an e-bike on the sidewalk in violation of Simi Valley municipal code. After attempting to stop the subject, he fled from officers into the nearby arroyo. The subject was quickly located and detained with the assistance of other assisting officers.
The subject, identified as Jesus Mora (35, Fillmore), was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm firearm concealed in his waistband. Mora is a convicted felon and a documented gang member from Fillmore.
Mora was arrested and booked for violations of Penal Code sections 29800 PC (Felon in Possession of a Firearm), 30305 PC (Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition), and 148(a)(1) PC (Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer).
