Applications deadline for CDBG funds extended to March 6

The City is extending the deadline to submit applications for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to March 6 at 4 p.m. for Program Year 2026.

This funding, estimated at approximately $1 million based on the 2025 allocation, is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to assist low- to moderate-income community members and respond to urgent community needs.

To apply for CDBG funding, applicants should visit the Hoboken Community Development Block Grant webpage to access the application at www.hobokennj.gov/resources/community-development-block-grant-program

Residents can also submit written comments or questions to Cathleen Wolf, AICP PP, Principal Planner, at 94 Washington St., Hoboken, NJ 07030, or via email at [email protected].

Sinatra Drive to close in both directions Thursday (tomorrow), Friday, and next Monday

As part of the Waterfront Reconstruction Project to replace aging and eroding concrete seawall along Hoboken's waterfront, Sinatra Drive will be closed in both directions between Fifth Street and Sinatra Drive North tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 19, Friday, Feb. 20, and Monday, Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The closure will allow for the installment of new barricades along Sinatra Drive in preparation of reopening the multi-use pathway and waterfront walk to pedestrians and cyclists.

Northbound lanes will reopen to vehicular traffic during non-working hours and on Saturday and Sunday. The ongoing southbound closure will remain in effect.

Rebuild by Design overnight work on uptown Bloomfield Street Thursday

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), in coordination with Veolia and the Hoboken water utility, will perform overnight work on Bloomfield Street between 14th and 15th Streets from 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, through 6 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20.

Crews will reconnect a section of a 16-inch water main as part of the Rebuild by Design Resist - North project, which must be conducted overnight because it requires a water shutoff to several businesses, including a doctor's office and a daycare facility, that would otherwise need to close during a daytime outage. Impacted customers will be contacted by the contractor prior to the shutdown.

Please be advised that construction noise is likely during this overnight work, however, crews will limit activity to only what is necessary.
