Case Update: Murder and Robbery Charges Filed in
February 13 Shooting

The Culver City Police Department continues the investigation into the fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, February 13, 2026, at approximately 7:24 p.m. in the north parking lot of the shopping center located at 6000 Sepulveda Boulevard.

Based on evidence gathered and ongoing investigative efforts, detectives have determined the incident was a robbery that escalated into gunfire.

The deceased individual, identified as twenty-five-year-old Angel Torres of Los Angeles, has been identified as a suspect in the robbery.

During the incident, the suspect confronted additional involved parties in the parking lot armed with a gun, which resulted in an exchange of gunfire. During the incident, Torres sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The second robbery suspect, Kejuan Griggs, a twenty-seven-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was later located at a local hospital and arrested for murder, two counts of attempted murder, robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery, and is held on a 4.25-million-dollar bail.

Twenty-eight-year-old Kelsi Ann Taplette of Los Angeles was arrested by Culver City Police Detectives and charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and accessory after the fact, and is held on a fifty-thousand-dollar bail.

At this time, investigators believe there are additional individuals involved who were victims of the robbery. Detectives are actively seeking to identify and speak with these individuals as part of the ongoing investigation.
