| During the month of November 2025, Sarai Bakery (located at 2326 Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks, CA) was burglarized. During the incident, the cash register was removed from the counter and stolen, totaling a loss of approximately $4,000. During the month of December 2025, Gutierrez Mexican Restaurant (located at 304 Los Angeles Avenue, Moorpark, CA) was burglarized. During that incident, the cash register drawer along with cash were stolen. Deputies assigned to the Moorpark Police Station responded and investigated the burglary. The case was then handed over to the Moorpark Investigations Unit where the investigation continued. Investigators determined the same suspect was responsible for both burglaries. Working together, detectives from Thousand Oaks and Moorpark utilized law enforcement databases and identified Teddy Broadnax (from Los Angeles County) as a suspect. During the course of investigation, Broadnax was arrested for a similar unrelated burglary by the San Gabriel Police Department. With their assistance, items related to the burglary at the Gutierrez Mexican Restaurant and Sarai Bakery were located, further linking Broadnax to the burglary. With the assistance of the Ventura County District Attorney‘s Office, an arrest warrant was issued for Broadnax, upon his release from Los Angeles County Jail. Once Broadnax is released from custody in Los Angeles, Broadnax will be extradited to Ventura County. Ventura County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank community members and businesses throughout the County for their assistance in reporting crimes in a timely manner. With the collaboration and trust from the public, crimes continue to be solved, allowing the judicial system to hold those responsible accountable for the crimes.
