Suspect Arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon
San Mateo, CA – On February 20, 2026, at 12:26 a.m., San Mateo Police Department officers responded to the 1300 block of Saratoga Drive on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, the suspect, identified as Devan King Sr., was detained, and officers contacted the adult victim at the scene, who had a visible injury to their face.
The victim stated that just prior to officers’ arrival, King Sr. approached them and, without provocation, struck them in the face with a collapsible metal rod, causing pain and visible injury. Witnesses at the scene corroborated the victim’s statement. King Sr. was placed under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon (not a firearm) and transported to the San Mateo County Jail, where he was booked on the charge.
