El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from February 8th to February 14th 
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from February 8th to February 14th.
February 8th
Driving Under the Influence/Carrying Concealed Firearm – San Diego St./Yosemite Ave:
At 2:17 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. During a search of the vehicle a loaded and concealled firearm was located. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department they were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Grand Theft - 5300 Block of School Street:
At 3:19 PM, an officer reports the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle.
Residential Burglary – 900 Block of Liberty St.
At 4:30 AM, officers responded to the above address when the victim was woken by sounds from their kitchen. The victim found the screen to the kitchen removed and the window wide open. The male suspect was wearing a red Jacket and fled eastbound out of the complex.
Attempted Vehicle Theft – 5400 block of Rosalind Ave:
At 9:15 AM, an officer reports the victim heard his car alarm go off and looked outside to see the right rear window of his vehicle smashed out and an unidentified suspect sitting in the driver seat. The victim went outside and the suspect ran away. The ignition was damaged and it was apparent the suspect was attempting to steal the vehicle.
Grand Theft – 500 block of Balra Dr:
At 12:20 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect stole the catalytic converter from a vehicle. The theft was captured on video at 5:45 AM the day prior.
Residential Burglary – 1400 Block Everett St:
At 6:39 PM, an officer reports two suspects smashed a rear sliding door and gained entry into the residence. The suspects stole property and fled westbound on Donal Ave.
Driving Under the Influence – Carlson Blvd/San Diego St:
At 9:18 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department they were released on citation to a sober friend.
February 9th
Driving Under the Influence – 11821 San Pablo Avenue (McDonalds):
At 12:07 AM, an officer responded to the McDonalds drive through for a suspicious circumstance and arrested a subject for driving under the influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department they were released on citation to a sober friend.
Open Alcoholic Beverage/Public Intoxication/Possession of Burglary Tools/Possession of Narcotics Equipment – San Pablo Ave & Jefferson Street:
At 9:44 AM, Officers stopped an individual who was carrying an open container of alcohol. The individual had in their possession burglary tools, narcotics parphernalia, and was highly intoxicated. The suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Grand Theft – 600 Block of Liberty Street:
At 2:29 PM, the victim reports their battery, cables, and battery housing were stolen from their vehicle.
Trespassing – 1700 Block of Liberty Street:
At 4:25 PM, Officers arrested an individual who was in someones backyard. The suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility after booking.
Grand Theft – 800 Block of Shevlin Drive:
At 8:35 PM, the victim reported their catalytic converter had been stolen.
Battery – 5200 Block of Victor Ave:
At 9:22 PM, the victim reported they were assaulted but did not want to press charges against the suspect.
Warrant Arrest/Possession of Narcotics – 11545 San Pablo Ave:
At 11:28 PM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested the subject on an outstanding warrant. The subject was also in possession of narcotics. The subject was issued a citation for the possession of narcotics and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility on the warrant.
February 10th
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 900 Block of Avis Drive:
At 8:09 AM, Officers located avehicle that had been reported stolen.
Grand Theft – Manila Ave/Elm Street:
At 10:30 AM, the victim reported their catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle.
Obtaining Personal Identifying Information with Intent to Defraud – 2000 Harper Street:
At 12:32 PM, The victim reports when they attempted to buy a new vehicle, an account had previously been opened under their name.
Petty Theft – 10636 San Pablo Ave (24hr Fitness):
At 2:02 PM, the victim reports when they opened their locker, their wallet was missing.
Petty Theft/Elder Abuse/Possess Access Card with Intent to Defraud – 500 block of Kearney Street:
At 1:13 PM, the elderly victim reported their purse was stolen. The suspect used several items contained within the purse to make purchases.
Warrant Arrest – Gladys Ave/Barth Path:
At 10:36 PM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested the subject for an outstanding arrest warrant. The subject was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
February 11th
Burglary – 10636 San Pablo Ave (24hr Fitness):
At 10:32 AM, the victim reports items were stolen from their secure locker.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave/Barett Ave:
At 12:57 PM, an individual was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Drunk in Public/Probation Violation – 3030 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 3:21 PM, an individual was arrested after being found heavily intoxicated. The individual was on probation. Transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Identity Theft/Petty Theft – 270 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 8:39 PM, two victims inside the business reported the suspect stole items out of their purses during class. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
February 12th
Burglary – 6400 Portola Drive:
At 8:57, the victim reports their vehicle was broken into, items were taken, and the ignition was tampered with.
Vandalism – 11260 San Pablo Ave:
At 9:56 AM, the victim reports an individual threw a rock through the front window of the establishment.
Identity Theft – 6700 Snowdon Ave:
At 10:16 AM, the victim reports an individual attempted to purchase a vehicle using the victim’s identifying information.
Warrant Arrest – Portola Drive/San Pablo Ave:
At 11:04 AM, an individual was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant.
Petty Theft – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 4:42 PM, the victim reports their property was stolen from the front of the store.
Robbery – 1800 Block of Elm Street:
At 4:39 PM, the victim reports an item was stolen from their person. When confronted, the individual who took the property struck the victim twice.
Shoplifting – 11555 San Pablo Ave (DD’s Discounts):
At 8:33 PM, officers responded to a shoplifting that just occurred. The suspect fled prior to police arrival. During the investigation, the same suspect came into the business hours earlier and committed shoplifting which was unreported.
Petty Theft – 10200 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 1:59 AM, the victim reported an unknown suspect stole a package from the porch.
Warrant Arrest/Possession of Narcotics – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 4:21 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a subject on an outstanding arrest warrant. The subject was also in possession of narcotics. The subject received a citation for the possession of narcotics and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility on the warrant.
Grand Theft – 200 Block of Ramona Ave:
At 5:15 AM, officers responded to a catalytic converter theft that just occurred. The suspects fled in a vehicle towards Albany prior to police arrival. While officers investigated, a second victim of the same crime was located.
February 13th
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - 10900 San Pablo Ave (ECPD):
At 8:20 PM, an officer contacted a subject loitering in front of the police station. The subject was found to be in possession of a glass pipe commonly used for smoking narcotics. During a records check the officer discovered the subject had an outstanding arrest warrant. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.
Theft with Priors/Possession of Narcotics/ Warrant Arrest- 11555 San Pablo Ave (DD’s Discount):
At 8:45 PM, officers were dispatched to the business for a suspect who had exited the business with unpaid merchandise. Responding officers located the suspect. The suspect was positively identified during an infield show-up and placed under Citizen’s Arrest. Officers recognized the suspect matched the description of the suspect that had stolen twice from the business the day before. During a search incident to arrest officers located suspected methamphetamine in the suspect’s possession. Officers conducted a records check on the suspect and discovered he had an active warrant and over 5 prior theft convictions. After booking, the suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Warrant Arrest - Kearney Ave/Potrero Ave:
At 10:00 PM, officers contacted a suspicious subject and discovered he had two active warrants. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
February 14th
Driving Under the Influence - Central Ave/Lexington Ave:
At 1:42 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department he was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
Burglary - Blake Street/Lexington Ave:
At 3:16 AM, an officer located a vehicle with a smashed out window.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Unlicensed - Jordan Ave/ Alta Punta Ave:
At 4:29 AM, officers conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle. Officers located a glass pipe commonly used for smoking narcotics in plain view and arrested the driver. During a records check officers discovered the driver was unlicensed. The driver was released on a citation at the scene and the vehicle was impounded.
Warrant Arrest - Barrett Ave/Sonoma Ave:
At 9:59 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and discovered the subject had an outstanding arrest warrant. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Warrant Arrest - 10400 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 11:55 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and discovered the driver had two outstanding arrest warrants. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Battery - 540 Ashbury Ave (El Cerrito High School):
At 10:22 PM, an officer reports the victim was pushed by the suspect.
Petty Theft/Identity Theft- 6700 Hagen Blvd:
At 10:55 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s wallet from the victim’s unlocked vehicle. The suspect attempted to make a fraudulent charge with the victim’s credit card at a nearby city.
