Winter Storm Preparation Advisory - Based on National Weather Service Briefing #4 - 7:00 AM EST – February 21, 2026

STORM UPDATE
Winter Storm Preparation Advisory
Based on National Weather Service Briefing #4
7:00 AM EST – February 21, 2026

According to the National Weather Service Mount Holly office, a significant winter storm is expected to impact New Jersey Sunday through Monday, with widespread heavy snow, strong winds, and major travel disruptions possible

I am in continual coordination meetings with Mayor Hemant Marathe, our Business Administrator, OEM Director and Fire Chief, and our Director of Public Works. We are reviewing plow deployment timing, brine operations, staffing levels, and emergency response capabilities.

We are prepared and ready.

• Timing:
○ Precipitation expected to begin Sunday morning.
○ It may begin as light rain, especially near and southeast of I-95, before transitioning to snow
○ Heaviest snowfall expected Sunday evening through Monday morning
○ Snow diminishing Monday afternoon
○ Impacts expected to affect the Monday morning commute and possibly the evening commute

• Olaf Index Snow: 8

○ Widespread heavy snowfall forecast across New Jersey
○ Snowfall rates of 2 inches per hour or greater are possible
○ Widespread moderate to major impacts likely

This is not decorative snow. This is cancel your plans and find your snow blower manual snow.

Olaf has reviewed the briefing and would like everyone to know that 2 inches per hour is not a suggestion. That is a workout plan.

Teenage Shovel App Deployment Level: Double Activation.
You will need to engage the Teenage Shovel App x2.

That means:
Feed their friends fluffernutters for strength.
Rotate shifts.
Hydrate the workforce.

If you are over 50, like me, the Teenage Shovel App is mandatory. No negotiations. No independent contractor agreements.

I will once again deploy the historic backyard beachwear snow defense photograph. It worked once. We are bringing it out of retirement because I cannot take this anymore. And no, it's not AI, it's really me in the snow forcing the warm weather.

• Dorothy Index Wind: 8

○ Northeast winds increasing Sunday and persisting into Monday
○ Strongest winds Sunday night into Monday morning
○ Gusts up to 40 mph inland
○ Blowing and drifting snow likely

Dorothy has confirmed that visibility reductions from blowing snow will make travel extremely hazardous.

Secure loose outdoor items now. Portable basketball hoops. Garbage cans. Hockey nets. Decorative winter gnomes that seemed charming last week.

• Elsa Index Ice and Cold: 3

○ Ice is not the primary threat at this time, but untreated surfaces will freeze quickly.
○ Cold temperatures will allow snow to accumulate efficiently.

Elsa advises that once it changes to snow, it is sticking around. Sidewalks and driveways will freeze solid if untreated.

• Roads Index: 8

○ Snow covered roads expected.
○ Reduced visibility from blowing snow
○ Widespread travel disruptions likely

Please remove vehicles from the street before snowfall begins.
Avoid driving during or immediately after heavy snowfall.
The fewer vehicles on the road, the more efficiently Public Works can clear it.

Preparedness

Residents are encouraged to:

• Secure loose outdoor items.
• Stock up on food and necessary supplies before Sunday.
• Charge phones, tablets, medical equipment, and flashlights.
• Prepare for possible power outages due to gusty winds
• Stay off roads during peak snowfall Sunday night into Monday morning.

Downed Wires
Treat all downed wires as live. Stay away and report them immediately.

Carbon Monoxide Safety
Do not run generators in garages or enclosed spaces.
Test battery-powered smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

Municipal Code Reminders

• Property Owners must clear sidewalks within 24 hours after snowfall ends per Municipal Code 152-18: https://ecode360.com/8061955
• Do not place snow or ice onto Township streets per Municipal Code 152-19: https://ecode360.com/8061956
• Place garbage and recycling cans on your property, not in the street.
