Winter Storm Warning Sunday into Monday
WEATHER ALERT
Heavy Snowfall and Gusty Winds Sunday Night... After a quiet day today, some initial precipitation will arrive early Sunday morning in the form of rain mixed with some wet snowflakes. It's possible that snow can take over as precipitation becomes steadier during the morning, but we're favoring that issues on paved surfaces are unlikely if this were to occur. This can continue into the afternoon, then pavement concerns increase heading into the early evening as the coastal storm begins to strengthen off the coast. With it taking a track close to the coast we'll see heavy bands of moderate to heavy snow as well as wind gusts over 30 mph, which can lead to significant blowing and drifting. Snowfall rates get close to 1"/hr for multiple hours, leading to significant snowfall totals. The bulk of the accumulation will be done by Monday morning, with some areas of snow lingering into the afternoon amid marginal temperatures. We are expecting over 8" of snow, and there is still room for totals to increase (12"+) depending where the heaviest banding occurs.
