Advisory

Weather Advisory: Major storm expected Sun-Mon. 6-14" snow expected. Remove vehicles from emergency snow routes.

Weather Advisory: Another winter storm warning is in effect for our area.

There is increasing confidence that the storm will bring significant snow accumulations of 6 - 14" beginning late Sunday morning and continuing into Monday.

Linden Public Works, in coordination with the Police Department and other City agencies, are making preparations ahead of the storm.

It is vital that all vehicles are removed from emergency snow routes. VEHICLES IN VIOLATION WILL BE FINED AND IMPOUNDED BEGINNING AS SOON AS SNOW BEGINS TO FALL.

DPW will have plows out during and immediately after the storm, but as the last storm demonstrated, vehicles that remain on roads significantly hinder their ability to clear roadways. We understand that finding parking is difficult, particularly during times snow events like this, but we kindly ask that residents do everything possible to move vehicles off the roadway.

Significant accumulation on top of the remaining snowpack could make plowing operations particularly challenging. Your cooperation is vital to our ability to effectively respond. Here are some things you can do to help us avoid some of the painful consequences we experienced in the past:

• Stay home – if you don’t have to travel, please don’t
• Remove vehicles from roadways, especially posted Emergency Snow Routes - double up in your driveways, ask a neighbor to share a driveway or even park on your grass
• Do not park in illegal spaces too close to intersections – this prevents drivers from moving snow away from corners
• Do not throw snow into the street – throw snow behind the curbline whenever possible
• Remove snow from walkways within 6 hours after snow stops
• Do not put personal items or garbage cans in the street to try and save parking spaces

Residents are also encouraged to sign up for emergency alerts and follow the City of Linden, Linden Police Department, and other official government sources on social media to receive updates. For information about how to sign up, please visit https://www.linden-nj.gov/nixlesignup
