Blizzard Warning Sunday into Monday - Make Preparations Now
Confidence is increasing that this next coastal storm will significantly impact our area. As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning from Sunday into Monday.
Precipitation is expected to begin early Sunday, likely starting as rain before transitioning to snow later in the day. The snow is expected to continue into Monday. Current forecasts call for 12–18 inches of accumulation.
In addition to heavy snowfall, strong winds will create blowing and drifting snow, significantly reducing visibility — the reason for the Blizzard Warning.
Forecasters are also predicting moderate flooding with this system. Residents in flood-prone areas should make arrangements now to move vehicles to higher ground.
Prepare in advance to avoid having to travel during the storm, and follow any guidance to stay off the road if conditions worsen. Disabled or stranded vehicles put both drivers and first responders at risk, particularly when visibility is poor.
Continue to monitor local forecasts and official updates as the storm approaches.
