A Blizzard warning is in effect. Prepare now for the storm and follow your local snow ordinance when snowfall begins
A Blizzard Warning in is effect for our area. The storm is expected to begin Sunday afternoon and continue through Monday afternoon. Weather forecasts are calling for significant snow accumulation between 12 and 24 inches throughout the area. Strong winds up to 55mph and moderate coastal flooding are also expected. Due to the strong winds and heavy snow, downed trees and power lines could result in power outages. Take the time now to prepare for the storm and please refrain from an unnecessary travel once the storm begins.
Residents are asked to move their vehicles off the roadway and into driveways to allow DPW to plow more efficiently. If you do not have a driveway, you can utilize the borough parking lots throughout town such as Dempsey Park, Maclearie Park, the Belmar Marina, and Belmar Municipal Lot for Belmar residents and Behrman Park for Lake Como residents. There will also be No Parking on Main St beginning at 6:00pm Sunday. Snow ordinances can be found on the Belmar or Lake Como Borough websites, or you can call the Belmar Police if you have any questions. The snow ordinances will be enforced by the Belmar Police Department during and after the storm.
Following the storm, be sure to shovel your sidewalks and please refrain from putting snow back into the roadway. Lastly, if you have a fire hydrant near your property, the fire department is asking your assistance to clean out the area of the fire hydrant to help their response in an emergency.
