The City of Asbury Park is monitoring forecasts for a significant winter storm expected Sunday, February 22 through Monday, February 23. Updates regarding parking and city services will be shared via Nixle as conditions develop.
Heavy snow, strong northeast winds, and coastal flooding are expected. Blizzard conditions are possible along the coast, with snowfall rates up to 2 inches per hour and wind gusts up to 55 mph. The heaviest snow is forecast Sunday night into Monday morning and may impact the Monday commute. A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect Sunday night into early Monday.
Residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel during the height of the storm, especially Sunday night into Monday morning.
PARKING AND VEHICLE SAFETY
Metered parking will be suspended Sunday, 2/22 and Monday, 2/23 to increase parking availability and support snow removal operations.
• Park vehicles off street in driveways prior to and during the storm whenever possible
• Do not park in flood-prone areas surrounding Wesley, Sunset, or Deal Lakes
• Move vehicles away from trees, utility poles, and other hazards
Additional snow parking instructions:
• Before and during snowfall, park on the even-numbered side of the street
• Once the opposite side of the street has been plowed, move vehicles to that side so both sides of the street can be fully cleared
• Alternate side parking does not apply in areas posted for no parking during a snow emergency

Additional parking instructions for designated snow removal areas, including streets with significant snow from previous storms, will be issued via Nixle.
GARBAGE AND RECYCLING PLACEMENT
Garbage pickup is canceled for Monday, 2/23.
• Do not place garbage or recycling containers in the roadway
• Keep containers at the curb to support plowing operations
