Storm Emergency Declaration (No Parking on Village Streets)

Pursuant to Article 2-B of the New York State Executive Law, the Village has declared a storm emergency restricting vehicular parking on Village streets from Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. through Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 12:01 a.m., to allow for uninterrupted snow removal and emergency access.

Due to the expected intensity and duration of the coming storm event, to permit our Department of Public Works employees to plow without issue, and to allow residents adequate time to prepare, the Village of Pelham is declaring this Storm Emergency in advance. While this is not a travel ban, residents are advised to limit local travel to the extent possible.

Declaration

Storm Emergency is hereby declared to be in effect:

  • Start: Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
  • End: Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 12:01 a.m.
Unless otherwise declared expired earlier or extended by the Mayor.

What this Means (Action Required):

  • All parked or standing vehicles must be removed from Village streets no later than 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22nd, and must remain off Village streets until the storm emergency expires, with the exception of any vehicles parked in designated on-street areas with Village parking permits. All other vehicles should be parked in driveways or other off-street locations so crews can plow curb-to-curb and keep roadways passable for emergency vehicles.
  • Potential Penalties / Enforcement: After a reasonable effort to contact the owner, the Village of Pelham Police Department may tow any vehicle that is parked/standing on a Village street and/or that impedes snow removal or emergency access during the storm emergency. Owners are responsible for all towing and storage charges, and violations may result in applicable fines and penalties under Village Code.
Forecast

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning and a Winter Storm Warning for the region from Sunday morning through Monday evening, with over a foot of snow expected, along with strong winds and low visibility.

As with any weather condition, this is subject to change.
