(Content of this Nixle email notification may not display properly due to Nixle technical issues) The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for Bergen County, Sunday, February 22, 1:00 PM, through Monday, February 23, at 6:00 PM. Snow is expected to begin early in the day Sunday and continue overnight into Monday. Total snow accumulation of 12 to 18 inches is possible. Snowfall rates may reach 1 to 2 inches per hour. Temperatures during the day Sunday and Monday will be in the 30s. Winds will be 15 to 25 MPH, with gusts up to 50 MPH. A blizzard warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds will lead to white-out conditions with very low visibility, making travel extremely dangerous. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Make sure your vehicle is winterized and in good working order. Consider taking a winter storm kit with you, including items such as tire chains, booster cables, shovel, flashlight, a charged cell phone, and anything else that would help you survive if you become stranded. To Report Power Outages, Call: PSE&G: 1-800-436-7734 SNOW REMOVAL Saddle Brook municipal ordinance now requires all vehicles to be removed from the roadways whenever snow has fallen and streets are snow covered. Violators are subject to tickets and fines. Saddle Brook municipal ordinance also prohibits snow to be shoveled or blown back onto the roadway. In addition, sidewalks must be cleared of snow and ice within 24-hours after the snow has stopped falling. The goal of these ordinances is to keep drivers and pedestrians as safe as possible.
