Advisory

⚠️ Brick Township Police Advisory: Winter Storm, Move Vehicles, Expect Delays, Report Outages & Stay Informed

The Brick Township Police Department is advising all residents to prepare for an impending winter storm this weekend. High winds, whiteout conditions, and coastal flooding are expected to significantly impact the area.

Vehicle Removal and Parking Ordinance
In accordance with Township Ordinance § 288-29, all vehicles must be removed from public streets once snow begins to accumulate. Parked vehicles impede snow plow operations and prevent the Department of Public Works (DPW) from clearing residential streets effectively. Vehicles left on the street may be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.

Barrier Island & Low-Lying Areas
Residents on the barrier island and in flood-prone areas are strongly urged to move their vehicles to higher ground immediately. Significant coastal flooding is anticipated for the duration of the storm.

Property Maintenance / Sidewalk Clearing
As a reminder, property owners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from sidewalks bordering their property within 24 hours after the storm ends to ensure pedestrian safety.

Garbage Collection
There will be no garbage or recycling collections on Monday. All collections for the week will follow a one-day delayed schedule.

Power Outages
High winds may cause widespread power outages. Please ensure you have fresh batteries and flashlights on hand. Report outages directly to JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), by texting OUT to 544487, or visiting www.firstenergycorp.com. Do not contact the Police Department to report power outages.

Snow Plowing and Communication
To keep emergency lines open for life-safety calls, please observe the following:

  • Stay Informed: Follow the Brick Township Police Department Facebook page and sign up for Nixle alerts by texting BRICKTWP to 888777.

  • Emergencies: Call 911 only for active emergencies or to report downed power lines.

  • Snow Plowing Inquiries: Do not contact the Police Department for plowing schedules. Direct all inquiries to the DPW at 732-451-4060.

Plowing will begin when conditions require and continue until all streets are cleared. Outside contractors and snow monitors will supplement township crews to ensure all neighborhoods are serviced.

The Office of Emergency Management will activate its command center to monitor storm conditions and snow removal operations. Residents are encouraged to use tonight and tomorrow morning to prepare for the storm.

Travel Advisory
Please avoid all unnecessary travel during the storm. Police officers and DPW crews will be on the roads managing emergency and storm-related operations. A State of Emergency will be in effect beginning at 12:00 PM on Sunday, February 22.

The Brick Township Police Department thanks all residents for their cooperation in maintaining public safety during this event.
