Confidence remains high that a potentially historic winter storm will impact Ocean Township through Monday with widespread major to extreme impacts. Since the last update, snowfall totals have continued to trend upward and Blizzard Warnings have been expanded to include all of New Jersey. Ocean Township is now under a Blizzard Warning. Coastal Flood Warnings remain in effect for Ocean County. Snow is expected to begin this morning, potentially starting as rain or a rain/snow mix before transitioning to all snow late morning into the afternoon. The heaviest snowfall is forecast this evening through Monday morning, with snowfall rates exceeding 1–2 inches per hour. Whiteout conditions are expected at times, and travel may become life-threatening. For Ocean Township specifically, updated projections now indicate: Expected snowfall: approximately 27 inches High-end potential: up to 40 inches 68% chance of receiving more than 12 inches of snow Snowfall rates exceeding 2 inches per hour possible Widespread blowing and drifting snow Near white-out to full white-out conditions likely Winds will increase today and persist through Monday. Gusts along the coast may reach up to 60 mph, with inland gusts up to 45 mph. Blowing and drifting snow will continue even after snowfall tapers off Monday. The Winter Storm Severity Index now indicates widespread major to extreme impacts, with extensive and crippling disruptions possible that may linger beyond Monday. Travel conditions are expected to be extremely hazardous and in some cases impossible. Moderate coastal flooding is expected with tonight’s high tide, with spotty major flooding possible. One to two feet of inundation above ground level is possible in vulnerable low-lying areas. Widespread roadway flooding is likely, and some locations may become isolated. Waretown Tide Times – Barnegat Bay Area (Approximate): Monday Morning High Tide: -02:18 AM Monday Afternoon High Tide: -02:51 PM The Monday morning high tide cycle remains the greatest concern, with additional tidal flooding possible Monday afternoon and evening. Due to the severity of this storm, the Governor has issued a State of Emergency. Final preparations should be completed immediately. Residents should avoid travel once conditions deteriorate. Ocean Township OEM continues close coordination with Public Works, Police, Fire, EMS, and County partners. Operational readiness is in place and response resources are being addressed accordingly.
