WINTER STORM UPDATE – BOROUGH OF JAMESBURG
A major winter storm is expected to begin Sunday, February 22, with the heaviest snowfall anticipated Sunday evening into the early morning hours of Monday, February 23. Residents are encouraged to prepare now and take all necessary precautions to stay safe.
WEATHER CONDITIONS
Jamesburg is expecting up to 12–17+ inches of snow, with periods of strong winds, icy conditions, and frigid temperatures. Power outages are possible and residents are encouraged to charge electronic devices, including portable chargers.
STATE OF EMERGENCY
A Local State of Emergency will take effect in Jamesburg at 12:00 PM on Sunday, February 22. A statewide State of Emergency will also be in effect.
CLOSURES
• Borough Hall will be closed on Monday, February 23. All regular business will continue remotely via email and phone.
• Jamesburg Public Library will be closed on Monday, February 23.
• Parents will receive school closure information directly from the school district.
PARKING
• All Borough residents are asked to remove their vehicles from the street and use driveways and garages if possible.
• For those without access to off-street parking, residents are asked to park their vehicles in clusters on the side of the road with odd-numbered house addresses if possible (for example: 1 Main Street, 13 Main Street, 25 Main Street). This temporary parking arrangement will allow the opposite side of the street to remain clear so DPW can plow more efficiently and safely.
• For those along West Railroad Avenue, residents are asked to utilize the angle parking by the railroad tracks and cluster their vehicles together.
SNOW REMOVAL GUIDELINES
The Department of Public Works and Code Enforcement would like to remind residents that residential sidewalks must be shoveled within 48 hours after snowfall has ended. Please do not throw snow into the street. If you are physically unable to shovel or snowblow, we encourage you to make arrangements in advance for snow removal. Volunteer assistance is not guaranteed.
WARMING CENTER
If extended power outages occur, Borough Hall will serve as a warming center. An announcement will be made if activation is necessary.
FIRE HYDRANTS
Residents with hydrants in front of their homes are asked to assist with keeping a 3-foot clearance around them.
