Snow Removal - Keep Snow Out of City Streets and Clear Sidewalks
As cleanup continues, residents, property owners, and businesses are reminded:
-
Do not place snow in any street, roadway, alley, or lane.
-
Snow plowed or shoveled from private parking lots and driveways must remain on your property.
-
Place snow on lawns or other appropriate areas on your property - not in the roadway.
-
City Code prohibits placing, throwing, or shoveling snow or ice into any public street. Violations may result in fines up to $500, up to 15 days imprisonment, or both.
-

Property owners whose homes or businesses abut a street are also required to clear sidewalks:
-
Sidewalks must be cleared within 12 hours after snowfall ends.
-
If a state of emergency is declared, sidewalks must be cleared within 24 hours, in accordance with City Ordinance § 13-302.11.
-
Failure to comply will result in a court summons and a $100 fine.
-
To report sidewalk violations, contact Code Enforcement at 732-502-5742.
Clearing streets and sidewalks promptly is critical to public safety and accessibility for all residents.
