Blizzard Warning

This is a reminder to move cars now from snow emergency streets. Do not wait until the storm starts. Parking is available in the municipal parking lots at Elm Place, Beechwood Place and Wood Park/Library. Cars parked in violation of the snow emergency ordinance will be ticketed and towed. Please follow all parking regulations, including alternate side of the street parking.  Do not drive during the storm as conditions may be dangerous. 

We will continue to send out alerts throughout the storm including updates on school and borough closures. Please stay safe.

...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 6 PM EST MONDAY...

WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations between 18 and 22 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

WHERE...A portion of northeast New Jersey. WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 6 PM EST Monday.

IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heaviest snow and strongest winds are expected tonight into Monday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle. Check local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road conditions. A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions, making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay in your vehicle.
