Winter Storm Update
The rain associated with the storm has begun. The latest forecast indicates that precipitation is expected to transition to snow between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
We are asking all residents to move their vehicles now if they are parked on the side of a street where parking is prohibited once roads are snow covered. Officers from the Highland Park Police Department have been making notifications in neighborhoods with narrower streets, including the Triangle Section, Braun, and South Third.
Please relocate your vehicle immediately to avoid being ticketed and towed and to help ensure snow removal operations can proceed efficiently.
Residents are strongly encouraged to limit non-essential travel during the storm. Reducing traffic will help maximize plowing efforts and allow public safety personnel to respond to emergencies without delay.
-
For life-threatening emergencies, dial 9-1-1.
-
For non-life-threatening emergencies, contact the Highland Park Police Department at 732-572-3800.
Post-Storm Snow Removal Requirements:
-
Properties along Raritan Avenue and Woodbridge Avenue must clear snow within 6 hours of daylight after the storm ends.
-
All other properties must clear snow within 12 hours of daylight after the storm ends.
-
Corner lot owners should clear ADA-accessible curb cutouts.
-
Properties with accessible parking spaces must clear those spaces and associated access aisles within 2 hours, per ordinance.
Community members are also encouraged to “adopt” a nearby fire hydrant and keep it clear to assist the fire department in the event of an emergency.
Please note: Trash collection will be suspended on February 23 to allow DPW personnel to focus fully on snow removal operations.
Thank you for your cooperation. Stay safe.
