WESTPORT: PARKING BAN & BLIZZARD WARNING
WESTPORT: PARKING BAN & BLIZZARD WARNING
A Local Civil Preparedness Emergency has been declared ahead of a major winter storm.
Urgent Blizzard & Coastal Flood Warning
A major winter storm is arriving this afternoon. To ensure public safety and effective snow removal, the Town of Westport has issued the following emergency directives:
* Mandatory Parking Ban: Effective immediately, all vehicles must be removed from town roadways. Vehicles remaining on the street impede plowing and emergency response.
* Coastal Precautions: Residents in low-lying areas should move vehicles to higher ground before midnight tonight. A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for Fairfield County, with moderate flooding expected during Monday's early morning high tide.
* Storm Timing: Heavy snow will begin this afternoon, with the most dangerous conditions occurring between midnight tonight and 9:00 AM Monday. Expect total accumulations of 18 to 24 inches.
* Power Outages: Wind gusts of 60 to 70 MPH combined with heavy, wet snow are likely to cause widespread power outages. Ensure all devices are charged, and emergency kits are ready.
* Travel Advisory: Travel will become treacherous and is restricted to emergencies only during peak storm hours.
Please check on your neighbors and report any power outages directly to Eversource at 800-286-2000
Instructions:
Move cars off roads & coast. Power outages likely. Avoid travel.
