NARRATIVE:
On February 9, 2026, Lakewood Station deputies responded to the 11500 block of E. Carson Street, Lakewood, regarding an attempted carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon that had just occurred.
Upon arrival, deputies conducted a preliminary investigation and obtained video surveillance footage capturing the suspect’s actions during the incident. Through coordinated investigative efforts, deputies quickly identified the suspect depicted in the footage.
Approximately two hours after the initial call for service, deputies assigned to the Lakewood Special Assignment Team located and apprehended the suspect without incident.
The swift and coordinated response by deputies, combined with the assistance of vigilant community members and the effective use of video evidence, resulted in the rapid apprehension of the suspect, and mitigated any further threat to the community.
The suspect was subsequently booked for Attempted Carjacking and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
On February 21, 2026, Lakewood detectives became aware of a video of the incident circulating on social media. The video gained significant attention and went viral on multiple platforms.
This is an ongoing investigation and the case has not been adjudicated.
