Message from Mayor Dale ❄️ Final Update for Tonight – What to Expect in the Morning ❄️

Message from Mayor Dale ❄️ Final Update for Tonight – What to Expect in the Morning ❄️

Snow is now falling faster, and at points overnight we’re expected to see snowfall rates of up to 3 inches per hour. I want to set clear expectations for the morning commute.

Plowing at night is extremely challenging, and residents should not expect to see blacktop in the morning. If you must travel, please plan accordingly. Our crews are doing everything possible to keep roads passable, but limited visibility at night makes it difficult to widen roads or clear them fully.

Earlier today, OEM shared a post regarding statewide travel ban beginning at 9 PM. We’re also receiving reports of many vehicles parked on roadways. Please remove your cars from the street. PD will be patrolling, and vehicles left in the roadway may be towed for safety.

Once daylight returns and visibility improves, crews will continue clearing and widening roads. Just like the last storm, cleanup will continue for several days after the snow stops.

Please do not shovel snow back into the roadway. PD will be monitoring for this. I know with the amount of snow we’re getting it’s a tough ask, but it creates dangerous conditions for drivers and for our plow crews. Thank you for helping us keep the roads as safe as possible.

Again! Thank you for your patience and cooperation as our DPW, County and contractors work through the night. Stay safe, West Milford.
