City of Newark Issues Travel Ban from 9 p.m., February 22nd to 7 a.m., February 23rd
The City of Newark has issued a mandatory travel ban due to the severe snowstorm and hazardous road conditions, beginning 9 p.m., Sunday, February 22nd, to 7 a.m., Monday, February 23rd, 2026.
During this time, all non-exempt vehicles are prohibited from traveling within city limits. The travel ban does not apply to: emergency, public safety, DPW and snow removal crews, healthcare and utility workers, public transportation vehicles and personnel, and the media.
Drivers are asked to observe the No Parking on Snow-Covered Roads signs that have been posted on streets throughout the City of Newark. Motorists are urged to look for the sign pictured here to identify the streets designated for no parking. Police will tow vehicles during the snow emergency under city ordinance
23:6–2. Vehicle owners will be responsible for towing costs.
