Advisory

Plowing Operations Underway

A Blizzard Warning and State of Emergency Remains in effect, and a statewide travel ban will also be in place from 9:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

PLOWING OPERATIONS
Public Works is fully staffed and plowing operations are underway. All cars should be off the roads in accordance with Public Ordinance 2070, which prohibits parking on any street in Westfield when three or more inches of snow have fallen until snowfall stops and the entire width of the road has been plowed. The Westfield Police Department will issue tickets for violations of this ordinance.

PARKING
Downtown residents without driveways may park in Lot 4 behind Baron's. Residents in other areas without driveways or the ability to park off-street may park in the Memorial Pool lot, on the tennis court side.

In addition, the following locations are subject to alternate side of the street parking after three inches of snow have fallen, and vehicles need to park on the side of the street with even house numbers (except for Ross Place).

  • 400 & 500 block of Downer Street
  • 400 block of First Street
  • Livingston Street
  • Cacciola Place
  • Cowperthwaite Place between Elm and Clark Streets
  • 300 & 400 block of Lenox Avenue
  • 200 block of St. Paul Street
  • Entire length of Ross Place (park on the side with odd numbers only)
SIDEWALK CLEARANCE
Sidewalks are the responsibility of the abutting property owner and must be cleared within 24 hours after the snow has stopped falling. The Police Department will be issuing tickets for violations.

The shoveling or blowing of snow into a plowed street is also banned.

CANCELLATIONS & CLOSURES
All non-emergency municipal offices and the Conservation Center will be closed on Monday, and the Westfield Public Schools announced earlier today that school is canceled on Monday.

Curbside recycling for Zone 1 has been moved from Monday to Tuesday, and all remaining zones will be delayed by one day this week.
