02-22-2026 WALDWICK WINTER STORM UPDATE - NJSP MANDATORY TRAVEL RESTRICTION THROUGH 7AM - PSE&G STORM UPDATE

REMINDER - Snow Removal Law
Please remember that once streets are snow covered, All vehicles must remain off the streets until streets are clear of snow. This will allow DPW crews to properly plow the streets curb to curb.

BOROUGH OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY, FEBRUARY 23.

NO GARBAGE COLLECTION ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 23. Next Collection for this route will be Thursday, February 26.
  • Basketball hoops must be removed from the street as they pose hazard to plowing crews and equipment. Any damage to hoops during plowing operations will not be the responsibility of the Borough.
  • Clearing of Vehicles - State law requires the removal of snow and ice from all vehicles, including the roof and hood, before driving. DO NOT CLEAR VEHICLES IN THE STREET.
  • Clearing of Sidewalks - Shoveling of sidewalks is required for the full width and including the driveway apron. Corner properties must provide access to public streets. Shoveling must be done within twenty-four (24) hours after the snow has stopped. DO NOT THROW SNOW INTO THE STREET.
  • Clearing Around Fire Hydrants - Property owners with a fire hydrant on their property must maintain a three-foot radius of the perimeter of a fire hydrant free of snow and ice so that there is no impediment to the use of the fire hydrant. The removal of snow and ice must be done within 24 hours after the snow has stopped. The Waldwick Fire Department urges property owners to clear ice and snow from fire hydrants. Buried fire hydrants cause significant delays, increasing the danger and difficulty of fighting a fire. Keep yourself and your neighbors safe by clearing fire hydrants on and around your property.
Violations for non-compliance with any of the above will be issued by the Police Department. Each day that the owner or occupant of the premises is in violation shall be considered a separate violation.

Thank you for cooperating with DPW cleanup operations and for helping maintain safe, accessible roads, fire hydrants and walkways in Waldwick for emergency vehicles, pedestrians, and drivers.

PSE&G STORM UPDATE
Customer Safety:
  • Downed wires should always be considered “live.” Stay at least 30 feet away from downed wires, and don’t go near the pole or anything touching the wire. Immediately contact PSE&G at 1-800-436-PSEG (7734), via our mobile app or on our website to report downed wires and dial 911 if an immediate hazard exists.
  • Electric current passes easily through water. If you encounter a pool of standing water, stop, back up and choose another path.
  • Never use a generator or any gasoline-powered engine inside your home, basement, or garage or less than 20 feet from any window, door or vent. Use an extension cord that is more than 20 feet long to keep the generator at a safe distance.
  • When it snows, keep pipes, vents, and meters on the outside of your home clear of snow – otherwise, you may inadvertently allow carbon monoxide to build up in your home. Also, clear chimneys and vents of snow and ice accumulation for other gas appliances.
