On Sunday, February 22, 2026, at approximately 5:29 p.m., the Petaluma Police Department received a report of a vehicle driving erratically in the area of South McDowell Boulevard and Anna Way in Petaluma.
A concerned citizen reported observing a dark-colored GMC Acadia traveling erratically, striking a curb and the median. Officers responded to the area to investigate.
Upon arrival, officers learned the driver had fled the vehicle on foot. With the assistance of a witness and an off-duty officer, Petaluma Police officers located the suspect in the area of Evergreen Lane.
The driver, identified as Juan Castillo, 35, out of Napa, was contacted by officers. Castillo displayed objective signs of being under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest for suspicion of D.U.I. a violation of California Vehicle Code Section 23152(a).
Castillo was subsequently transported to the Sonoma County Jail, where he was booked on the above violation.
The Petaluma Police Department would like to thank the community members who reported this incident and provided assistance in locating Castillo after he had fled the scene.
