Monday Morning Update - Blizzard Continues, Heavy Snow

Good Morning,

The blizzard continues with heavy snowfall expected to last until this afternoon. Road conditions are hazardous due to the amount of snowfall and the blowing, drifting conditions. South Brunswick Township DPW plow crews have been working hard throughout the night.

This storm will require multiple days of clearing. Please use caution when shoveling this heavy snow.

ROAD CONDITIONS

  • Overnight, several tractor-trailers have become stuck on Route 130 in deep snow.
  • Miller Road - closed due to a downed tree
  • Broadway Road - closed wires down
  • All roads are hazardous
  • State of NJ travel restrictions remain in place

WEATHER FORECAST

Ongoing Blizzard Conditions this AM ... We are in the thick of the Blizzard this morning with very heavy snow bands moving through, with rates as high as 1-3"/hr. This, plus winds gusting over 45 mph will mean continued degrading conditions with blowing and drifting as well as a decent risk for downed trees and scattered power outages. We continue to have these bands linger into the morning and likely won't start to ease up until closer to late morning. Snow then gradually exits into the remainder of the afternoon. Because of these very heavy bands, we likely will see a decent amount more of snow, with totals likely over 18" when all is said and done. After the snow exits, watch for post-storm refreeze as temperatures fall below freezing at night. Another minor risk for some light snow is possible late Tuesday night into Wednesday AM.
