Winter Storm Hernando Update
The snow has stopped and cleanup continues. A few snow storm reminders:
-
Alternate Side of the Street Parking is in effect, Borough Ordinance §194-3. Parking regulations will be strictly enforced and cars parked illegally will be ticketed and towed. Your cooperation will allow the DPW to clear the road and make it passable for larger emergency vehicles like fire trucks and ambulances.
-
Sidewalk Snow & Ice Removal. Snow and ice must be cleared from sidewalks within 12 hours of daylight after the snowfall ends, as required by Borough ordinance §247-17.
-
Do Not Place Snow in the Street. Snow may not be shoveled or placed into roadways, pursuant to Borough Ordinance §247-17, as this creates hazardous conditions and interferes with plowing operations.
-
Keep Fire Hydrants Clear Please ensure all fire hydrants on or near your property are kept clear of snow to allow emergency access when needed.
-
Garbage Collection is cancelled for Tuesday, February 24th.
We have been communicating throughout the day with the School Superintendent. School staff have been busy clearing snow around the schools to make it safe to return to school. As soon as a decision is made about tomorrow’s school day we will send out another Nixle Alert.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and helps keep our community safe during winter weather. Thank you.
