Municipal Offices 2-hr Delayed Opening / Recycling Yard & Schools are Closed Tomorrow

The Monroe Township Department of Public Works will continue plowing and salting operations on Township roadways this evening, overnight, and throughout the day tomorrow. Residents are respectfully requested to keep all vehicles off the streets to allow crews to clear roadways safely and efficiently.

Please be advised that Monroe Township Public Schools & Recycling Yard will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, February 24th, 2026. Monroe Township Municipal Offices will have a 2-hour delayed opening.

Residents are reminded that, in accordance with Monroe Township Ordinance 105-29, all property owners and tenants are responsible for removing snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property, as well as clearing snow from fire hydrants located on or near their premises. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and helps ensure that children can travel safely to and from school and designated bus stops.

The following roadways remain closed due to downed trees and utility wires:

  1. Federal Road – Closed between Applegarth Road and Perrineville Road.
  2. Gravel Hill–Spotswood Road – Closed between Gravel Hill Road and Monroe Boulevard.
  3. Monroe Boulevard – Closed between Federal Road and Gravel Hill–Spotswood Road.
  4. Schoolhouse Road – Closed between Perrineville Road and Buckelew Avenue. (Residences off Nathanial Street and Forman Avenue remain accessible from the Perrineville Road side of the closure. Residences on Majestic Woods Drive can be accessed from the Buckelew Ave. side of the road closure.)

JCP&L is currently reporting that approximately 75 residences in Monroe Township remain without power. Utility crews have been notified and are working to restore service as safely and expeditiously as possible.

Residents are also reminded not to blow or shovel snow back into the roadway, as doing so creates hazardous conditions and impedes ongoing snow removal operations.

In the event of an emergency, please dial 911. For non-emergency police matters, contact the Monroe Township Police Department at 732-521-0222.

All power outages should be reported directly to JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS.
