02/22 Winter Storm Recap and Recovery Information

Following this past weekend’s Winter Storm, Governor Sherrill has ended the travel bans issued for all 21 Counties across the State. The State of Emergency is still in effect and is projected to be modified or lifted entirely during business hours on Tuesday February 24, 2026. The Township received approximately 17 inches of snow through the duration of the storm.

Throughout the storm, our emergency services responded to a variety of emergencies while the DPW worked to maintain the roadways and assist emergency services with their responses. Currently, the DPW is still working on clearing and widening the roadways to ensure they remain usable to vehicular traffic.

Future Weather Forecast Notes:

Air Temperatures are projected to drop to approximately 18 degrees throughout the day on Tuesday 02/24 with the possibility for more snow in the overnight hours into Wednesday 02/25 with totals projected to be around 1 inch. Between Wednesday 02/25 and Friday 02/27, air temperatures are projected to rise and fall above and below the freezing point with the potential for another storm with mixed precipitation on Thursday 02/26.

  • Check generators, snow blowers, gas cans and any other emergency supplies to ensure they are restocked and ready for operational use for the next time they are needed.
  • With the possibility for more snow and or rain this week, ensure storm water catch basins are clear in the area of your residence to minimize the potential for roadway / driveway flooding conditions.
