NEWARK POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL MOTORCYCLE COLLISION

Newark, California (Tuesday, February 24, 2026)

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, at approximately 11:03PM, Newark Police Officers and members of the Fremont Fire Department responded to a reported traffic collision near the intersection of Cedar Boulevard and Stevenson Boulevard.

Upon arrival, first responders located a solo motorcyclist who had collided with a traffic island and traffic signal. Emergency personnel immediately rendered medical aid, and the motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The motorcyclist was a 29-year-old male resident of Milpitas. This marks Newark’s only fatal traffic collision of 2026.

The Newark Police Department Traffic Unit is actively investigating the cause of the collision. Preliminary information indicates alcohol may have been a factor.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Traffic Sergeant Karl Fredstrom at [email protected] or by phone at 510.578.4974. Information can also be provided anonymously via the Anonymous Tip hotline at 510.578.4965.
