County overnight snow removal operations on Observer Highway TONIGHT

Hudson County has scheduled overnight snow removal operations on Observer Highway, beginning at 10 p.m. tonight. County crews will clear both sides of the road, from Willow Avenue to Henderson Street. Operations will end by 6 a.m. tomorrow, Feb. 26.

Hoboken Police and Hudson County Sheriff’s Officers will be on site to assist with any necessary detours and traffic control.

All other snow emergency routes have been released and are available for parking. Please remember to park legally and within the parking zones only. Vehicles violating any traffic laws, including parking too close to the crosswalk or obstructing the flow of traffic, are subject to ticketing and towing.

Waste and Recycling Collection continues tonight

The City is aware there were a number of locations where pick up did not occur last night. Waste and recycling collection will continue tonight, with crews focusing on those areas. Please place garbage bins and bags at the curb and make sure they are easily accessible and not blocked or buried by snow, to ensure a safe and timely pickup. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

Residents are asked to report locations where trash or recycling remains at the curb by emailing the location to [email protected]

No fines will be issued for uncollected garbage left at the curb as a result of this disruption. However, regular enforcement will resume once collection has been fully completed in affected areas.

Street sweeping resumes for plowing of curbside parking zones tomorrow

Enforcement of street sweeping will resume tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 26. Please remember plowing takes significantly longer than the 1-hour window allotted for multiple blocks of street cleaning, so it is likely that not all blocks will be plowed. Should this occur, the Division of Public Works (DPW) will return during the next scheduled street cleaning to plow the curbside parking zone, as necessary.

Find the City’s street cleaning schedule here: https://www.hobokennj.gov/resources/street-cleaning-schedule

Please continue to dig out and move vehicles to avoid impeding plowing. This will also allow DPW to clear blocks for easier on-street parking access. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Discounted garage parking available overnight

As a reminder, Resident On-Street Parking Permit holders can park in Municipal Garage B (28 Second St.) and the Midtown Garage (371 Fourth St.) at the discounted overnight rate of $6 between the hours of 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. Please note, garage parking is limited and first come, first served.

Keep sidewalks & curb ramps clear; Inspections to continue

Please remember that property owners and occupants are responsible for the removal of snow and ice from sidewalks, curb cuts, curb ramps, and fire hydrants adjacent to their properties.

Sidewalk inspections are ongoing. Please continue to report un-treated sidewalks by emailing: [email protected]. Residents are asked to report each potential violation only once and allow up to five days before submitting a repeat complaint.

Residents are urged to use caution when shoveling or clearing off cars. Please assist elderly or disabled neighbors with clearing snow from their properties. Remember, it is illegal to shovel snow back onto streets or onto fire hydrants.
