All snow emergency routes available for parking; Waste collection continues; Street sweeping enforcement has resumed

Key items in this Nixle:

  • All snow emergency routes available for parking
  • Waste collection tonight; Report uncollected trash
  • Street cleaning rules being enforced
  • Clear property of snow and ice; Inspections continue

All snow emergency routes released for street parking

Hudson County completed snow removal operations on Observer Highway last night. As a result, all designated snow emergency routes throughout the City have now been released and are open for regular street parking.

Residents are reminded to follow all posted parking regulations and signage.

Waste and Recycling Collection continues tonight

Waste and recycling collection crews continue to work through weather-related delays caused as a result of this week’s blizzard.

Residents are asked to place garbage bins and bags at the curb and make sure they are easily accessible, and not blocked or buried by snow, to allow for a safe and timely pickup.

Please continue to report locations where trash or recycling remains at the curb by emailing the address to [email protected].

No fines will be issued for uncollected garbage left at the curb as a result of this disruption. However, regular enforcement will resume once collection has been fully completed in affected areas.

Street sweeping has resumed for plowing of curbside parking zones

Enforcement of street sweeping rules has resumed, to allow for plowing of curbside parking zones.

Please remember plowing takes significantly longer than the 1-hour window allotted for multiple blocks of street cleaning, so it is likely that not all blocks will be plowed. Should this occur, the Division of Public Works (DPW) will return during the next scheduled street cleaning to plow the curbside parking zone, as necessary.

Find the City’s street cleaning schedule here: https://www.hobokennj.gov/resources/street-cleaning-schedule

Discounted garage parking available overnight

As a reminder, residents with on-street parking permits who are unable to find street parking overnight, can park in Municipal Garage B (28 Second St.) and the Midtown Garage (371 Fourth St.) at the discounted overnight rate of $6 between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. Please note, garage parking is limited and first come, first served.

Keep sidewalks & curb ramps clear; Inspections to continue

The City continues to receive reports of un-shoveled sidewalks. Please remember that property owners and occupants are responsible for the removal of snow and ice from sidewalks, curb cuts, curb ramps, and fire hydrants adjacent to their properties.

Sidewalk inspections are ongoing. Please continue to report un-treated sidewalks by emailing: [email protected]. Residents are asked to report each potential violation only once and allow up to five days before submitting a repeat complaint.

Volunteer to assist neighbors with snow removal

The City’s volunteer snow removal program has already been successful, with approximately 45 residents registered to request assistance, and more than 40 volunteers signed up to help.

As a reminder, this volunteer program matches volunteers with residents who are 60 or older, or those who have a disability and need assistance clearing snow.

To register for the program, click here: https://hoboken.seamlessdocs.com/f/SnowRemovalRegistration

Snow removal requests are on a first come first served basis and dependent on the availability of volunteers.
