Shallow fog continues to expand in coverage early this morning in low-lying areas mainly southwest of the Chicago metro, some of which is locally dense. If traveling, be prepared for sudden changes in visibility over short distances. If you encounter fog, slow down, maintain a safe following distance, and use low beam headlights. Where locally dense fog develops, patchy slick spots may also occur due to the sub-freezing temperatures.
