El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from February 15th to February 21st 
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from February 15th to February 21st.
February 15th
Warrant Arrest - Ohlone Greenway/Hill St:
At 4:20 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop and discovered the subject had an outstanding warrant. The subject was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Driving Under the Influence - 5300 Cypress Ave:
At 8:02 PM, officers responded to the area for a suspicious circumstance. Officers located two highly intoxicated subjects standing next to a parked vehicle. One of the subjects admitted to driving to the location. An officer conducted a DUI investigation and arrested the driver. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, he was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
Auto Burglary/Possession of Burglary Tools - 11700 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 10:40 PM, officers responded to the area for a suspicious subject. Officers located the subject sitting inside a vehicle that did not belong to him. The suspect admitted to entering the vehicle with the intention of stealing it. The subject was placed under arrest and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
February 16th
Driving Under the Influence - Central Ave/San Pablo Ave:
At 1:34 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, he was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
Driving Under the Influence - Central Avenue/I-80:
At 2:02 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation and released to a sober relative.
Trespass/Warrant Arrest - 11344 San Pablo Ave (Denny’s):
At 3:32 AM, officers responded to the business for a reported fight call. Upon arrival officers contacted a subject who refused to leave after being asked several times by an employee. The subject continued to refuse to leave and was placed under Citizen’s Arrest. During booking, the subject refused to identify themself. Officers identified the subject via their fingerprints and discovered they had an active warrant. After booking they were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Shoplift - 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshall’s):
At 9:59 AM, an officer reports the suspect exited the business with unpaid merchandise.
Grand Theft - 800 Block of Richmond St:
At 5:40 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle.
Stolen Vehicle - 700 Block of Elm St:
At 6:34 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle.
February 17th
Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Ave/Portola Dr:
At 1:59 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. After booking at the El Cerrito Police Department, the suspect was issued a citation then released to a sober friend.
Petty Theft – 1400 Block of Liberty St:
At 10:58 AM, the victim reports their catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle.
Robbery – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls):
At 10:54 AM, the victim reports two suspects entered the store, selected merchandise, passed all points of sale and attempted to exit the store. When approached by a store employee, the suspects made threats of physical harm, placing the victim in fear for their safety.
Burglary – 3300 Belmont Ave:
At 9:29 AM, the victim reports the windows of their vehicle were broken and items were spread throughout the vehicle.
Criminal Threats – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 4:02 PM, the victim reports they were approached in the store by several individuals who threatened the victim with harm, placing them in fear for their safety.
Driving Under the Influence – Potrero Ave/San Pablo Ave:
At 11:20 PM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested a subject for Driving Under the Influence. The subject was later released on a citation to a sober friend.
February 18th
Burglary – 3000 Block of Carlson Blvd:
At 8:31 AM, the victim reports two windows of their vehicle were broken, the interior of the vehicle was ransacked and items were stolen.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 10636 San Pablo Ave (24 HR fitness):
At 11:18 AM, Officer located a previously stolen vehicle using FLOCK. The driver of the vehicle was arrested, transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking and released on a citation.
Petty Theft – 800 Block of S. 55th Street:
At 1:18 PM, the victim reports their mail has been stolen over the course of several months.
Criminal Threats – 2600 Block of Yuba St:
At 4:20 PM, the victim reports a suspect called the victim and made threats which caused the victim to fear for their safety.
Criminal Threats/Harassing Phone Calls – 11400 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 7:39 PM, the victim reported the suspect arrived at the business and threatened their life. The suspect also called the business several times harassing them. The suspect was located in the area and placed under citizens’ arrest. The suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Warrant Arrest – 3090 El Cerrito Plaza (Starbucks):
At 4:15 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested the subject on two outstand felony warrants. The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
February 19th
Burglary – 9901 San Pablo Ave
At 1:52 PM, the victim reports a window of their vehicle was broken and items were taken from inside the vehicle.
Burglary – 7525 Fairmount Ave
At 4:04 PM, the victim reports their vehicle’s rear window was broken and items were strewn about in the vehicle.
Prowling – 6500 Block of Schmidt Ln.
At 12:04 AM, officers responded to a report of possibly two suspects prowling in the apartment complex. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.
February 20th
Public Intoxication/False Info to Police Officer/Open Container – BART Path/Conlon Ave:
At 9:50 AM, an officer contacted three suspects with open containers of alcohol. He arrested one of the suspects after he provided a false name and was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself. They were transported the Martinez Detention Facility. The other two were released on citations for the open container violations.
Driving Under the Influence - Potrero Ave/Navellier Ave:
At 10:08 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department they were issued a citation and released to a sober relative.
February 21ST
Trespass/Resisting Arrest - 10636 San Pablo Ave (24 Hour Fitness):
At 1:40 AM, officers were dispatched to the business for an unwanted subject. The subject was asked several times to leave the business by an employee but refused. The subject continued to refuse to leave when asked by an officer and was placed under citizen’s arrest by the employee. When officers attempted to take the subject into custody, they resisted. The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Vehicle Theft – 2200 block of Mira Vista Dr:
At 9:50 AM, an officer reports theft of a vehicle between 7:23 PM on 2/20 and 6:45 AM on 2/21.
Vandalism – 800 block of Lexington Ave:
At 10:16 AM, an officer reports the padlock of a storage unit connected to the carport was vandalized about one hour prior to the time of call. No known loss.
Burglary – 600 block of Kearney St:
At 11:08 AM, an officer reports a lock was cut off a carport storage room and property was stolen. Unknown timeframe over the past two weeks.
Petty Theft – 800 block of Everett St:
At 1:26 PM, an officer reports property was stolen off the back of the victims car between 11:00 PM on 2/19 and 7:45 AM on 2/20.
