Increased Police Presence at Houses of Worship
Community Update from Chief Giuseppe N. DeChiara
Members of Our Community,
Given the ongoing conflict in Iran, I want to speak directly to our residents to provide reassurance and clarity. At this time, we have no intelligence or information indicating any specific or credible threat to our township. However, as your Police Chief, I believe in being proactive rather than reactive when it comes to public safety.
As a precaution, you may notice an increased police presence around houses of worship and other locations that are traditionally considered sensitive sites. This visibility is intentional and preventative. Our goal is simple — to ensure that every member of our community feels safe and protected.
We remain in close communication with our federal, state, and county law enforcement partners and are actively sharing information to stay ahead of any potential concerns. Our officers are monitoring developments carefully and will continue to adjust our posture as needed.
I ask all residents to remain attentive and aware of their surroundings. If you observe anything unusual or suspicious, please contact our department immediately. Public safety is strongest when law enforcement and the community work together.
Let me be clear: there are no known local threats at this time. These measures are precautionary and reflect our ongoing commitment to safeguarding our community.
For additional preparedness information, I encourage you to review guidance from the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security at the link below:

Respectfully,
Giuseppe N. DeChiara
Chief of Police
