Wilmington Police have arrested a wanted man on drug charges following an investigation.
On February 14th at approximately 5:20 p.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force conducted a vehicle stop in the area of North Tatnall Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard in reference to traffic violations. Officers made contact with the driver 25-year-old Malik Winters and recovered approximately 2.33 pounds of marijuana from the vehicle. Winters was released pending further investigation.
On February 25th at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers located Winters in the 500 block of North Madison Street. Officers confirmed Winters was currently wanted and conducted a pedestrian stop. Winters was taken into custody without incident.
Winters was charged with the following offense in addition to his outstanding charges:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Tier 1
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $1,150 unsecured bail on the above listed charge in addition to $174,850 cash-only bail on his outstanding charges.
