LOCATION: 34400 Block of Yucaipa Blvd., Yucaipa
SUSPECT(S): Michael Alaniz, 50-years-old, Resident of Yucaipa
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Friday, February 27, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the victim parked his black E-Bike in front of the above location. After the victim finished shopping at the location, he returned to the area where he had parked his E-Bike and found it was missing.
Deputies from the Yucaipa Station responded, and during the investigation, they obtained video surveillance footage from nearby businesses. In the video, a white male adult was seen taking the victim's E-Bike from the location and riding it south on 4th Street. Deputies checked the surrounding area, but were unable to locate the suspect or the victim's E-Bike.
A deputy from the Yucaipa Station viewed the video and recognized the suspect, Michael Alaniz, from previous contacts. Through investigation, deputies identified a residence in Yucaipa where Alaniz was living. A search warrant was authored for the residence and served on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Alaniz and the victim's stolen E-Bike, were located at the residence. Alaniz was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center for grand theft and possession of stolen property. The victim's E-Bike was recovered and returned to the victim.
