Janesville Police Department Honors the Life and Service of Retired K9 Grand 
The Janesville Police Department announces with sadness the passing of retired K9 Grand on February 23, 2026, after 14 months of retirement.
K9 Grand faithfully served the Janesville community from 2016 until his retirement in 2024. He was proudly assigned to Officer Jason Bier throughout his distinguished career. Following his retirement, Grand spent the remainder of his life relaxing and enjoying time at home with Officer Bier and his family.
During his years of service, K9 Grand was a pivotal component in numerous arrests, narcotics seizures, and critical searches.
The department extends its gratitude to the veterinarians and staff at Janesville Animal Medical Center for the exceptional care they provided to K9 Grand throughout both his active duty and retirement.
The Janesville Police Department’s K9 program would not be possible without the continued support of the community and local businesses. Their generosity and partnership play a vital role in maintaining and sustaining the program.
K9 Grand’s service and loyalty will not be forgotten. He leaves behind a lasting legacy within the department and the community he served.
