South Brunswick Police Host 3rd Annual Houses of Worship Summit
The South Brunswick Police Department hosted its 3rd annual Houses of Worship Summit, continuing our commitment to strengthening safety and preparedness within our faith-based community.
This year’s summit focused on enhancing emergency response, with hands-on training designed to empower attendees to provide immediate aid during traumatic bleeding incidents. In coordination with the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, participants gained life-saving skills and were each provided with bleeding control kits for their respective houses of worship.
This initiative has continued to evolve each year, with the first year focusing on active shooter awareness and preparedness, the second year focusing on de-escalation and mental health, and this year emphasizing emergency medical response and bleeding control.
Members from congregations across South Brunswick became certified and are now better equipped to respond during critical incidents.
Community Policing Detective Ryan Bartunek, coordinator of the event, stated, “This summit is about giving our community the tools and confidence to act when seconds matter. Preparedness saves lives, and partnerships like these make our entire township stronger and safer.”
Our mission remains focused on equipping our community with the skills and resources needed to respond effectively in emergencies.
Residents and organizations interested in learning more about community policing initiatives or hosting similar programs can contact Detective Ryan Bartunek at 732-329-4000 ext. 7476 or via email at [email protected]. The South Brunswick Police Department offers several community programs including the Houses of Worship Summit, Neighborhood Watch, Coffee with a Cop, Youth Police Academy, Active Shooter Awareness and Preparedness, Neighborhood Security and Safety Presentations, Citizens Police Academy, and other community safety and preparedness presentations.
