Press Release: Dog Remains Discovered Following a Fire on a Bridge
On March 3, 2026, at approximately 9:05 p.m., Fremont Police officers were dispatched to the report of a small fire in the bike lane of a bridge in the area of Niles Boulevard and Linda Drive. The Fremont Fire Department was on the scene and had already extinguished a small fire involving burning wood. Officers spoke with personnel from the Fremont Fire Department, who advised that the remains of a dog were discovered in the now-extinguished fire. The deceased dog was minimally burned, and at this time, it is unknown if the dog died in the fire or was deceased prior to the fire. Officers obtained a general description of a person seen in the immediate area of the fire. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone matching the description of the person seen near the fire. The Fremont Fire Department has confirmed that no people were injured and no vegetation was threatened as a result of the fire.
The dog's remains were transported to the Tri-City Animal Shelter. Fremont Police Department is currently investigating this incident and is continuing to pursue investigative leads.
