LOCATION: Twentynine Palms Highway at Mesquite Springs Road, Twentynine Palms

Motorcycle Rider: Adult Male

Pedestrian: Jimmy Reynolds, 55-years-old, Resident of Twentynine Palms


SUMMARY: Motorcycle Versus Pedestrian Collision Results in Fatality in Twentynine Palms

Twentynine Palms, CA - On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at approximately 3:42 a.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station, along with rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department and Morongo Basin Ambulance, responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian, near the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Mesquite Springs Road in Twentynine Palms.

Upon arrival, deputies determined the motorcyclist sustained significant injuries as a result of the collision.  The motorcyclist was transported by ground ambulance to High Desert Medical Center and subsequently airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center for advanced medical care.  The pedestrian, Jimmy Reynolds, succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.

Deputies from the Morongo Basin Station Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded and took the lead during this investigation.  Details surrounding the incident are currently being investigated.  Through preliminary investigation, it was determined the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Twentynine Palms Highway near Mesquite Springs Road when he struck Reynolds.  For unknown reasons, Reynolds was in the roadway, walking in the eastbound lanes of travel.  

Contributing factors to this incident are actively being investigated by the Morongo Basin Station MAIT.  Anyone with information regarding the collision, or who may have witnessed the incident, is asked to contact Deputy A.
