Press Release: Update #1: Dog Remains Discovered Following a Fire on a Bridge
On March 3, 2026, at approximately 9:05 p.m., Fremont Police officers were dispatched to the report of a small fire in the bike lane of a bridge in the area of Niles Boulevard and Linda Drive. The Fremont Fire Department was on the scene and had already extinguished a small fire involving burning wood. Officers spoke with personnel from the Fremont Fire Department, who advised that the remains of a dog were discovered in the now-extinguished fire.
The dog's remains were transported to the Tri-City Animal Shelter. A veterinary examination has determined that the dog had died prior to being set on fire, and the veterinarian was able to rule out fire as the cause of death. The dog also showed no signs of trauma. At this time, the exact cause of death remains unknown. The dog was an approximately four-month-old, male, black-and-tan pit bull who was not neutered.
