Wilmington Police arrest two women and a man in connection to a shooting incident:

Wilmington Police have arrested two women and a man in connection to a shooting incident after an investigation.

On March 4th at approximately 12:10 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the unit block of Cedar Street in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers located 54-year-old Brian Ringgold suffering from a gunshot wound, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Officers also located 29-year-old Kaishira Burton, who had also been struck by gunfire and was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Police recovered a firearm at the scene.

The case was assigned to Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigation Division. Through the course of the investigation Detective Merced determined that Burton had shot Ringgold, who then returned fire, striking her.

Burton has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Attempted Murder (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Aggravated Menacing
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited
  • Discharging a Weapon
She was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Correctional Institution on $109,100 cash-only bail.

Ringgold has been charged with the following offenses:
  • Assault (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited
  • Discharging a Weapon
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $63,100 cash-only bail.

Police also made contact with 35 year-old Shadara Cooper, who removed a second firearm from the scene. She was located in the 100 block of Stroud Street and she was taken into custody without incident.

Cooper has been charged with the following offense:
  • Tampering Physical Evidence
She was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was released on $500 unsecured-bail.
