For Immediate Release: March 6, 2026
OPD NEWS:

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve public safety and reduce violent crime, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) recently made arrests and recovered multiple firearms.

On February 26, 2026, OPD Patrol Officers in East Oakland responded to a reported shooting in the 9400 block of MacArthur Blvd. Officers soon located a vehicle associated with the shooting and attempted a traffic stop. When the vehicle fled, OPD’s air unit, ARGUS, followed it. With ARGUS’s assistance, officers on the ground stopped the vehicle and arrested the individual. A loaded AK-Pistol was recovered in the area where the individual fled. The individual had recently been arrested for another firearm-related offense.

On March 1, 2026, an OPD patrol officer conducted a traffic stop in the 2700 block of 63rd Avenue. The driver had an outstanding felony warrant for a firearms-related offense. Officers recovered a loaded handgun with an extended magazine from the vehicle. The driver also had prior felony convictions.

On March 4, 2026, OPD patrol officers in East Oakland contacted two individuals in a vehicle parked illegally. Officers found an unserialized handgun near the driver's seat and arrested one individual for firearms-related offenses.

OPD remains committed to removing illegal firearms from our neighborhoods and will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our community.
