El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from February 22nd to February 28th
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from February 22nd to February 28th.
February 22nd
Driving Under the Influence - Carlson Blvd/San Pablo Ave:
At 2:45 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. After booking, the driver was issued citation and released to a sober friend.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave/Eureka Ave:
At 8:11 AM, during a pedestrian stop an officer arrested a suspect on a warrant. They were issued a citation with a new court date and released in the field.
Vehicle Theft – 500 block of Clayton Ave:
At 11:22 AM, an officer reports theft of a vehicle between 5:00 PM on 2/20 and 11:00 AM on 2/21.
Vandalism - 3200 Block of Santa Clara Ave:
At 10:47 PM, an officer reports an unknown susupect broke both exterior windows to the victim’s vehicle.
February 23rd
Grand Theft – 2300 Block of Cedar Street:
At 7:56 AM, the victim reported their catalytic converter was stolen. The theft occurred between sometime overnight.
February 24th
Commercial Burglary/Felony Evading – 11700 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 3:49 AM, the suspect forced entry into the business and stole items. Several minutes later an officer located the suspect vehicle and a short pursuit ensued, but it was cancelled by the officer due to unsafe conditions.
Commercial Burglary – 11400 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 3:57 AM, the suspects forced entry into the business. It is unknown what the suspect stole from the business.
Auto Burglary/Conspiracy to Commit a Crime/Possession of Stolen Property/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 11700 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 4:32 PM, two suspects were seen inside the victim vehicle. Both subjects were located and they were placed under arrest. Search incident to arrest, one subject was found to be in possession of property stolen from the victim vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both subjects were booked at El Cerrito PD and later transported to Martinez Detention Facility.
February 25th
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave/Stockton Ave:
At 2:56 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for an arrest warrant. The subject was transported directly to Martinez Detention Facility.
Warrant Arrest/Possession of Narcotics/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – San Pablo Ave/Knott Ave:
At 10:59 PM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested the subject for two arrest warrants. During a search, the subject was found to be in possession suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
February 26th
Tamper with a vehicle – Manila Ave/Liberty Street:
At 4:54 AM, an officer located a vehicle that had been tampered with. No reported loss.
Tamper with a vehicle/Battery on a Police Officer/Resisting Arrest/Possession of Stolen Property/Possession of Burglary tools/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Probation Violation/Warrant Arrest – Donal Ave/Liberty Street:
At 5:01 AM, an officer located a suspect inside of the victim’s vehicle. When contacted the suspect resisted arrest and fled from the officer. After a brief struggle the subject was taken into custody. Burglary tools were located near the victim vehicle and later officers located two additional victim vehicles that had been tampered with a short distance away. During a search the suspect was found to be in possession of stolen property and drug paraphernalia. The subject was found to have a felony arrest warrant and was on active probation.
The subject was arrested and transported to El Cerrito Police Department for booking. After booking the suspect was booked into Martinez Detention Facility.
Petty Theft – 1300 block of Liberty Street:
At 7:44 AM, the victim found their vehicle had been rummaged through and reported property was missing.
Vandalism – 6500 block of Gladys Ave:
At 7:51 AM, the victim reported their vehicle window had been damaged. No reported loss.
Petty Theft – 1300 block of Liberty Street:
At 8:00 AM, the victim found their vehicle had been rummaged through and reported property missing.
Petty Theft – 200 block of EC Plaza:
At 12:42 PM, the victim reports their property was stolen while working.
February 27
Warrant Arrest – 7000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 11:44 AM, an officer arrested a suspect on a warrant. They were transported to the Martinez Detention Facilitiy.
Vehicle Tampering – 1300 block of Elm St:
At 1:02 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect rummaged through the contents of the victim’s vehicle. No known loss.
Warrant Arrest – 11100 San Pablo Ave:
At 5:33 PM, during a suspicious person call for service an officer arrested a suspect on a warrant out of San Bruno. The subject was issued a citation with a new court date and released at the scene.
February 28
Driving Under the Influence - Central Ave/Carlson Blvd:
At 2:26 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department they were issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
Assault – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 7:37 AM, an officer reports an unidentified customer threw a metal sign at a worker and struck them in the face, causing minor injury.
