Arrest Made in Prowling Incidents
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) has arrested a suspected prowler linked to several incidents in East Oakland.
Just before 11:00 a.m. today, East Oakland Patrol officers located and arrested the suspect in the area of the 3700 block of Carrington Street. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim or has information related to these incidents is asked to contact the OPD Special Victims Unit at (510) 238-3641.
Background:
Since December 13, 2025, OPD has received six reports of an individual entering residents’ yards, peering into occupied homes, and engaging in inappropriate behavior. The suspect has been seen in several neighborhoods, with the most recent incidents occurring in the Maxwell Park area of Oakland between 8:00 p.m. and 10 p.m. There are additional reports dating back to March 2025. In most of the reported cases, the incidents occur after 8:00 p.m.
The suspect is described as a balding male, possibly Caucasian or Latino, in his 40s or 50s. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a white hooded sweatshirt, and blue jeans.
OPD is actively investigating these incidents and tracking all related reports. Command staff has deployed additional patrols in affected areas to enhance public safety and deter further incidents.
